Dog Agility Training Philosophy

We believe that, like any other type of dog training, agility should be taught using positive reinforcement techniques.  We do not believe in using punishment in teaching dog agility.

While most dogs naturally love to run and jump, agility demands proper conditioning so that injury to the dog doesn't  result.  We feel very strongly about teaching agility SAFELY AND CORRECTLY.  We feel that it is very important to learn proper obstacle navigation and control commands.  It is also essential that dogs participating in agility classes are able to obey their owners off-leash and be around other dogs without showing aggression.*  For this reason, we highly recommend the Distraction Proofing as a Pre-Requisite for all dogs.  We require Canine Good Citizen certification (or passing the CGC on a head collar) prior to enrollment in beginning level agility classes. 

*For dogs that have issues with other dogs, we have a Dominant Dogs class and a Fearful Fidos class.  For graduates of these classes, we have a Therapeutic Agility Class, specially designed for dogs that have space issues around other dogs.
