Pre-Agility Class
FUNDAMENTALS & OFF LEAD
INDOORS
The focus of this class is on
strengthening the ability of the Canine Good Citizen dog's ability to obey off-leash.
Positive reinforcement techniques are applied to teach the basic control
commands of agility and to negotiate miniature and partial agility obstacles. Dogs
learn directional controls and targeting. The focus of this class is building
confidence on the obstacles and establishing recognition of contact zones. Dogs will also
learn to work off leash in the presence of other dogs. This class can and should
be repeated as needed until dog reaches class goals. This class is held
indoors at our North Raleigh location. Dogs MUST have a
Canine Good Citizen title, CGC skills, or have passed
the CGC on a head halter
and must not have
aggression issues with well-mannered dogs. Dogs should be at least 7 months
age, of a healthy weight, and without health problems.
You will be asked to pay a $50 deposit for practice agility equipment.
This deposit is refundable if the equipment is returned at the conclusion of
class. Students may opt to keep the equipment or return the equipment
at the last class. All equipment must be returned in usable condition
to be eligible for a refund.

Beginner Agility Class

the Pre-Agility class or its equivalent and have completed the Pre-Agility class
goals. Dogs must be reliable off-leash around other dogs and know directional
control commands. Dogs should be familiar with targeting as a method of
training. Dogs will be introduced to jumping technique and conditioning. Full sized AKC/NADAC obstacles will
be introduced at less than the standard heights. This class can and should be
repeated as needed until dog reaches class goals. This class is held
outdoors in our fully-fenced and lighted regulation-sized arena.
Dogs MUST have taken Pre-Agility class or its
equivalent and must not have aggression issues with well-mannered
dogs. Dogs should be at least 9 months of age, of a healthy weight, and
without health problems.

Intermediate Agility Class
RAISING THE BAR & MINI
SEQUENCES
For dogs who
already have taken the Beginner Agility class or its equivalent and have completed
the Beginner Agility class goals. Dogs must have experience in proper jumping
technique and conditioning. Dogs should already be familiar with the all of
regulation AKC/NADAC obstacles and should recognize contact zones using targeting.
Dogs will gradually learn to navigate obstacles at 3/4 height and will begin to do
obstacles in a short sets. This
class can and should be repeated as needed until dog reaches class goals. This class
is held outdoors in our fully-fenced and lighted regulation-sized arena.
Dogs MUST have taken Beginner Agility or its
equivalent and must not have aggression
issues with well-mannered dogs. Dogs should be at least 11
months of age, of a healthy weight, and without health problems.

Advanced Obstacle Proficiency & Crosses
Advanced Handling
For dogs who already have taken the Obstacle Proficiency
Agility class or its equivalent and have completed the Obstacle Proficiency
class goals. Class objectives include
solid start-line stays, lead-out pivots, pre-cuing, and
utilizing "thirds" of the jumps bar.
This class can and should be repeated as needed until dog reaches class
goals. This class is held outdoors in our fully-fenced and
lighted regulation-sized arena.

is to teach the dog to be comfortable working at a distance and to teach
handlers how to run parallel paths. Layering, and the use of converging and
diverging paths will be covered as well. Other skills taught include verbal
discrimination of obstacles, and to teach handlers how to navigate obstacle
"traps". ROTATING CLASS OUTLINE -- A DIFFERENT SET OF EXERCISES WILL BE
USED EACH SESSION. This class is held outdoors in our fully-fenced and

Agility Class
COMPETITION PREPARATION
For dogs who
already have taken the Obstacle Proficiency Agility class or its equivalent.
This class is for
handler and dog teams that are preparing for or are currently competing in Novice
Standard agility. Dogs must be confident jumpers and be
able to properly and safely navigate all obstacles at
full height. The
purpose of these classes is to help the dog and handler
begin to run full courses as a team. More advanced
handling, including reverse flow pivots, serpentines, wraps, and threadles
will be taught.
Distance & Obstacle
Proficiency exercises will be included. Games classes like
Snooker, Touch & Go, Pairs, and Gamblers may also be covered. Coaching will focus on
handler body position and cues needed for
standard courses.
Evening classes will be video-taped and students will receive a copy of the
tape as part of the class. This class can and
should be repeated as needed until dog reaches class goals.
