What is the Canine Good Citizen program |
Your Dog Can Become a Canine Good Citizen!

| Class Description | |
| Whether youve just gotten a dog or have just finished a puppy class, this class is for you. Your dog will learn to sit, to lie down, to stay put, to come when called, sit politely for petting, and to walk on a leash without pulling. Using positive training methods, you and your dog will build communication skills and strengthen your relationship. Best of all, your dog can become a civilized member of the family and a welcomed member of the community! | |
| The focus of this class is on strengthening the relationship between owner and dog by increasing communication skills. Positive reinforcement techniques are applied toward Canine Good Citizen goals. Dogs learn to sit-stay, down-stay, come when called, walk on a loose leash, calmly greet a person, and calmly pass by another dog. Problem-behavior trouble-shooting and active, participatory classes. This is a good first-time class or a follow-up class to a puppy class. There is no upper age limit for this class, but dogs need to be 6 months by the class start date. Clicker training methodology will also be taught in this class, but is not required. |
